Overview:
We're partnering with a well-established, mission-driven financial institution to hire a Mortgage Loan Originator focused on external business development . This is a high-visibility, growth-oriented role designed for a self-starter who thrives on building relationships, generating referrals, and becoming the go-to mortgage expert in the community.

What You'll Do:

* Proactively source mortgage loan business through relationships with realtors, builders, attorneys, and financial advisors
* Represent the institution at networking events, community functions, and homebuyer seminars
* Guide members through the full mortgage process-application, education, product alignment, and closing
* Partner closely with internal mortgage processing, underwriting, and member services teams to ensure smooth loan execution
* Stay current on mortgage products, rates, guidelines, and market conditions to effectively advise borrowers
* Generate and maintain a pipeline of quality mortgage leads with an emphasis on purchase business

What You Bring:

* 2+ years of proven mortgage origination experience (purchase and/or refinance)
* Track record of self-sourcing leads and building referral networks
* Strong knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, and ideally portfolio mortgage products
* Deep understanding of the Southeast Michigan real estate market
* Excellent communication, follow-up, and relationship management skills
* High comfort level working independently, with strong internal collaboration
